CSAT 2013 analysis

Paper - 1
  • the paper 1 seemed a bit easier and if not quite similar to the 2012 levels.
  • the wieghtage of Indian polity and history looks same as of 2012.
  • no question was asked on social schemes of government.
  • questions from economics and commerce segment gained ground and similarly the questions from science were also asked, though the level of science questions were a bit high, the question from economics focussed on concepts and their applications.
  • indian geography gained some attention.
  • geographical phenomenon had two questions
  • environment and ecology also gained importance.
candidates peparing since an year or more could easily score good marks.

Paper -  2

  • the number of questions are reduced to 80.
  • six questions had no neagtive marking (and they all were relating to decision making ability).
  • second paper was average (though it was easy last time also).
  • UPSC increaed the proportion of questions from quant (that's quite surprising) and roughly the questions from quant were around 10-14.
  • questions from passage were approximately 30.
